Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why Free Clinic is important?

A: Nationwide, the "Free Clinic Movement" attempts to bridge gaps between the need and the provision of healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured residents of our communities. Estimates place the number of free clinics across the country at about 250, though by virtue of geography and composition, free clinics often are isolated from each other and from other under-funded, grassroots movements.

To help facilitate better communication between free clinics, in several states and regions across the country representatives from free clinics gather on a semi-regular basis to discuss common issues and network amongst each other. The formality and approach of these gatherings are as individual as the clinics represented; however, one common denominator seems to emerge each time - the desire for wider involvement.

Q: Am I qualified?

A: The Free Clinic brings critical health care to people without health insurance and to those who are least able to afford health care. In order to ensure that our resources are directed most effectively in meeting these needs, the following criteria are used to admit people to the Free Clinic programs.
