The Heart of the Buddha, the Commitment of the Master
|
 |
| (Translated by Douglas Shaw) |

"The heart of the Buddha, the commitment
of the Master" is a phrase by which Master Cheng Yen exhorts
her followers to take the Buddha's heart as their own heart and
the Master's com-mitment as their own commitment, so that they
may unwaveringly advance on the path of Tzu Chi.
Master Cheng Yen explains that "the heart
of the Buddha" refers to the compassion with which we study
his teachings. "The commitment of the Master" is the
commitment that Master Cheng Yen made to liberate all living beings
from the cycle of reincarnation.
