the Lamp in Your Heart |

The term "lamp of the heart" symbolizes
a bright, pure mind which, like a lamp, can light up the darkness
of ignorance and illuminate wisdom. These days, many people habitually
go to temples to light votive candles and pray for good luck and
for things to go their way. In reality, true illumination is within
our minds. It is not necessary to go out of one's way to light
the lamps before the Buddha. What is important is lighting up
the "lamp of the heart" within each of us.
