The fourth anniversary of the Jordan Tzu
Chi office was celebrated on September 1. At the regular morning
volunteer meeting, Master Cheng Yen especially expressed her
gratitude to the Jordan office for crossing religious and
racial boundaries to show kindness to disaster victims despite
its limited manpower.
The religious war between Israel and Palestine
has caused Palestinians to flee and take refuge in Jordan.
For the last four years, the Jordan Tzu Chi office has regularly
supplied these refugees with daily needs and taken special
care of their children. Master Cheng Yen said, "When
the refugees see our volunteers with their 'blue sky and white
cloud' uniforms, they impulsively shout, 'Tzu Chi, Tzu Chi,
Amitabha, you were sent by Allah."
There are only twenty Tzu Chi people in
Jordan, but they relieve the hunger and suffering of hundreds
of refugees, giving without concern for religion or race.
Master Cheng Yen said, "I would like express my respect
for the Tzu Chi people in Jordan, and thank you for utilizing
local resources to carry out your work."
To celebrate its fourth anniversary on September
1, the Jordan Tzu Chi office will hold a large-scale distribution
to the poor. They will invite refugees to share and enjoy
this celebration with them.
