Emergency relief of Malaysia Damansara
Dalam Village fire
KUALA LUMPUR - Tzu Chi Malaysia aids
victims of a village fire.
On
December 1, the third fire of the year engulfed Malaysia's
Badland Pirate Village. The chaos left villagers without strength
to rebuild their homes. Tzu Chi volunteers distributed emergency
funds and supplies and comforted victims.
Residents fled into the night as the fire
raged. When they returned, their homes were gone. An aged
woman who had worked hard all her life lost everything but
the clothes she was wearing. Another victim said, "I
didn't have time to move anything, even clothes. Now everything
is gone."
The
villagers' blank faces showed a desperation that the children
did not understand. Although the donated clothes were not
new, the villagers insisted that they were warm. A villager
said, "Tzu Chi always provides assistance in disasters.
