Paraguayan Volunteers Distribute Food
Along Brazilian Border
CIUDAD DEL ESTE, PARAGUAY-Tzu Chi volunteers
from Paraguay crossed the Brazilian border to distribute food
to the poor.
They distributed 371 bags of food, helping
to warm the stomachs of 371 families. Each bag of food weighed
30 kilograms [66 lb] and contained enough noodles and flour
for a month. Some volunteers also brought candy as an early
Christmas treat for the community.
The volunteers also visited a retirement
home subsidized by Tzu Chi. Over 80 old people lived in the
center. After seeing their worn-out, sagging mattresses, the
volunteers decided to raise funds for new mattresses.
