Tzu Chi medical aids to Imogiri
Bantul, 29 May - Local Tzu
Chi medical team have treated 200 patients and
performed a surgery within the first four hours since the
setup of the Imogiri clinic in the Bantul region.
The evening rain on 28 May has caused many
displaced resident to be struck down with sickness. Tzu Chi
has shipped 35 cartons of clothing via air on this morning.
Tzu Chi has prepared traumatic medicine
in preparation for potential external injuries. The volunteers
have also acquired additional influenza and gastric medicine
as many complained gastric discomforts, some due to the reduced
food portion supplied by the central kitchen.
100 tons of rice, part of five 100 tons
batches, is currently on the way to the disaster area. The
rice was donated the Indonesian branch of Taiwan Buddhist
Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, by the Council of Agriculture
Executive Yuan R.O.C..
Indonesian Tzu Chi volunteers have started
to appeal to the public to help the Earthquake victims.
