Updates 1: Tzu Chi relief actions in Philippines
for Typhoon Durian victims on 12 Dec 2006
On the first of the three day relief efforts
in Albay province, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines continuing
relief actions for the Typhoon Durian victims have benefited
over 1,300 families and 1,000 patients on the 12th December.
Although some delivery trucks were temporary
hindered by the muddy road, Philippines Tzu Chi volunteers
were still able to held distributions in Busay and Tagas in
in Daragan city. In total 1,331 families benefited.
In the free clinics hosted by Tzu Chi International
Medical Association (TIMA), surgeries and doctors treated
cases of open wounds and flu-related illnesses. 37 cases were
treated by TIMA surgeries, while internal medicine doctors
treated 615 cases and 438 cases were treated by paediatrics.
Nearly a hundred Manila Tzu Chi volunteers
were mobilised for this relief efforts: 69 volunteers and
25 TIMA volunteers from various medical institutions.
Philippines Tzu Chi volunteers continue
to call for participation of the general public in forms of
donation or participation in helping the Typhoon victims.
