Background

As the United States moved in on Afghanistan, many refugees fled to the northern part of Afghanistan. Tzu Chi has teamed up once again with Knightsbridge International to bring food and supplies to the refugees. This is our third partnership since 1998. Leading the way is Knightsbridge's Chairman, Sir Edward Artis and President Dr. Sir James Laws.

Shortly after U.S. strikes on Afghanistan began, Knightsbridge International contacted Tzu Chi for partnership in the relief mission to the country.

On October 11th, Knightsbridge International's Sir Edward Artis and Tzu Chi Foundation and USA's Executive Vice President Dr. William Keh met and signed the agreement for this Afghanistan humanitarian relief mission. Under the agreement, Tzu Chi would provide relief supplies and Knightsbridge International would deliver them into Afghanistan. The relief team departed for Afghanistan on October 14.
