Fifty-two members of Ali's family passed away during the earthquake. Another woman lost over one hundred family members. Half of the population of Bam did not survive the quake.


An injured woman on the roadside is cared for by the passing doctor.


The city of Bam is in ruins. Ninety percent of its buildings collapsed during the earthquake.


Some infants who survived the earthquake could not survive the cold nights of below-freezing temperatures.


A volunteer respectfully hands out blankets before nightfall.


Volunteers visit the survivors in their tents at night to provide additional aid and comfort while the medical team continued to give treatments in their own tents.
