Hope For the Future

By Brother Chi-Jieh Chiang, Principle, New York Tzu Chi Academy

The families of the September 11th victims that I saw at the NYC Family Assistance Center were all very strong, yet the main purpose of Tzu Chi distributing relief there is indeed to pass on love and care to them. I believe that we have fulfilled this purpose. Not only do we offer monetary relief, we also devote ourselves to caring for victims' families.

Furthermore, I am very touched that at the Center, we can see in every corner heart-warming thank-you cards for relief workers sent by children from all over America. They made us feel that this country is full of hope.

After going through the September 11 tragedy and seeing the impermanence and laments in life, I realized that only through sincere appreciation for what one has and continuously helping others could one part from misfortune and ensure continuing peace.
