Day 11 - Tzu Chi USA News Update

New York/New Jersey Chapter

Tzu Chi volunteers spent the day at the New York City Family Assistance Center. At the end of the day, Tzu Chi assisted 38 families and/or individuals. Among these, 4 are families of deceased people, 5 are families of missing people, and 29 are individuals or families of who live close the World Trade Center who are injured, jobless, or lost their homes. Many are temporarily staying at Salvation Army shelters.

New York/New Jersey Chapter

So far, Tzu Chi volunteers at the New York City Family Assistance Center has helped 14 families. To date, this makes 107 families Tzu Chi has given care to. Care includes financial as well as emotional support.

Southern California Chapter

Tzu Chi's Southern California Chapter, Tzu Chi Free Clinic, and the American Red Cross is holding a blood drive on Sunday, Sept. 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. So far 150 people have signed up for the 120 appointments. On Sunday, Red Cross will do additional screening to determine if everyone is able to give blood.
