A Remembrance For the Worldwide
Disaster Victims
The Tzu Ching Musical, "A Legend of
Hope", originally scheduled for September 23, was cancelled
due to safety concerns for performers who needed to fly in
from all parts of the US. A replacement program, entitled
"A Remembrance For the Worldwide Disaster Victims,"
was held at Orchard School Auditorium in San Jose.
Tzu Chings in California had rearranged
the program in response to the cancellation of the musical.
The replacement program featured selected songs and dances
from the musical to be performed by local Tzu Chings. The
spirit of the musical was still well preserved in the new
program, and the audience was inspired with love and hope
after attending the event.
The three hundreds seats in the auditorium
filled up quickly, and many had to stand at the back of the
hall. Mr. Tsao, CEO of Tzu Chi USA, shared his firsthand experience
of seeing the aftermath of the 9/11 attack in NY. Mr. Keh,
the Vice Chairman Tzi Chi USA, also made a presentation of
his own involvement in several international relief projects.
After the program volunteers staffed the fundraising sale,
and many attendees bought Tzu Ching dolls and the soundtrack
of the musical in support of the fundraising efforts. The
total proceeds of the event summed up to USD $13,086.
